In November 2023, the average export price for raw cane sugar (without flavoring or coloring matter) amounted to $656 per ton, declining by -5.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $754 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Australia ($1,196 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($261 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for raw cane sugar (without flavoring or coloring matter) amounted to $1,790 per ton, picking up by 7.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 626% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,742 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
