In 2022, the average import price for residues; of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous mineralses amounted to $7,405 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 287% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,597 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($7,649 per ton), while the price for India totaled $7,118 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+19.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of residues; of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous mineralses decreased by -19.4% to 561 kg for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 696 kg, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of residues; of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous mineralses dropped notably to $4.2K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 65%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $5.2K, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
