Price for Seafood Meals and Pellets in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average seafood meals and pellets import price amounted to $1,681 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 7.1% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in July 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Georgia ($1,841 per ton) and South Africa ($1,801 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($1,589 per ton) and India ($1,677 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Seafood Meals and Pellets in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average seafood meals and pellets export price amounted to $1,887 per ton, surging by 18% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 23%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,943 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($2,142 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($1,823 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Seafood Meals and Pellets in Turkey
In 2022, the amount of flours, meals and pellets of fish or of crustaceans and molluscs imported into Turkey contracted notably to 188K tons, reducing by -28.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +21.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 70%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 262K tons, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, seafood meals and pellets imports shrank markedly to $292M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 91%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $361M, and then dropped notably in the following year.
