The average import price for seeds, fruit and spores; of a kind used for sowing stood at $3,875 per ton in September 2023, growing by 12% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 208% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $23,725 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($1,910 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($568 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for seeds, fruit and spores; of a kind used for sowing amounted to $2,713 per ton, picking up by 6.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 44%. The export price peaked at $3,700 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($17,512 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,148 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Seeds, Fruit and Spores; of A Kind Used for Sowing in Poland

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of seeds, fruit and spores; of a kind used for sowing, when their volume decreased by -27.6% to 15K tons. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 24% against the previous year.

In value terms, imports of seeds, fruit and spores; of a kind used for sowing declined to $129M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 12%.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, exports of seeds, fruit and spores; of a kind used for sowing skyrocketed to $121M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +50.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 47%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
