The average import price for sheep or lamb skins (without wool) stood at $1,101 per ton in March 2024, surging by 20% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2023 to March 2024, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2024 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in March 2024.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was Italy ($3,861 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($169 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for sheep or lamb skins (without wool) stood at $6,001 per ton in 2022, growing by 100% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a buoyant expansion. The export price peaked at $9,537 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($4,084 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($1,592 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
