The average import price for silicates; commercial alkali metal silicateses stood at $485 per ton in September 2023, surging by 35% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 346% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,475 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($2,354 per ton), while the price for Iran stood at $292 per ton.
