In 2022, the average import price for silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica amounted to $2,157 per ton, surging by 58% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable contraction. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $3,107 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($3,552 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($938 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
