The average import price for silicon; containing by weight not less than 99.99% of silica stood at $49,454 per ton in November 2023, with an increase of 7.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $53,441 per ton. From September 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($45,758 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($7,711 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for silicon; containing by weight not less than 99.99% of silica stood at $44,541 per ton in 2022, picking up by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $49,159 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($77,993 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($5,871 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (-0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, purchases abroad of silicon; containing by weight not less than 99.99% of silica increased by 13% to 17K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced downturn.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of 13K tons, leveling off in the following year.

Overall, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the last three years.
