Price for Smoked Fish, Incl. Fillets in Lithuania (FOB) - 2024
The average smoked fish, incl. fillets export price stood at $7,757 per ton in March 2024, approximately equating the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 32% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,611 per ton. From August 2023 to March 2024, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($10,611 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($5,019 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average smoked fish, incl. fillets import price amounted to $5,417 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 105% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,621 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($16,228 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($3,071 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+16.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Smoked Fish, Incl. Fillets in Lithuania
In 2022, shipments abroad of smoked fish, incl. fillets decreased by -6.2% to 1.2K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 22%.
In value terms, smoked fish, incl. fillets exports contracted to $9.1M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 33% against the previous year.

Overall, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 286%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 614 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
