In 2022, the average import price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens amounted to $498 per ton, reducing by -15.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 48%. The import price peaked at $600 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($523 per ton), while the price for the United States ($454 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a precipitous descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 a decrease of -20.5%. The export price peaked at $11,153 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($4,520 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($1,330 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2014 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Yemen (+149.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the amount of soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens imported into Saudi Arabia dropped to 689K tons, falling by -5.1% on 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 726K tons, and then reduced in the following year.

Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, exports of soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens skyrocketed to $148K in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
