In September 2023, the average import price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens amounted to $1,012 per ton, reducing by -21.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 29% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,533 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,397 per ton), while the price for Germany ($805 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens amounted to $1,370 per ton, rising by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 140%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,536 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($2,518 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($917 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 13K tons, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens rose sharply to $14M in 2022.
