Price for Soya Beans; Other than Seed, Whether or Not Broken in Uganda (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average export price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens amounted to $692 per ton, reducing by -4.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens increased by +9.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $850 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,330 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($468 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+21.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price, however, showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 187%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $680 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($556 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($64 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+380.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, exports of soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens from Uganda soared to 7.8K tons, with an increase of 19% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 369%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 9.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens expanded sharply to $5.4M in 2022. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 397% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $6M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.

In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens expanded remarkably to $5.6K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $5.9K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
