In 2022, the average export price for soya beans; seed, whether or not brokens amounted to $590 per ton, waning by -15.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 76%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $737 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,691 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($440 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+18.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price posted a perceptible expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 221%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $657 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($333 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($115 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malawi (+119.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
