In 2022, the average export price for spent (irradiated) fuel elements (cartridges) of nuclear reactorses amounted to $5,000 per ton, surging by 4.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 19%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,600 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to -2.4% per year.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 14%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of spent (irradiated) fuel elements (cartridges) of nuclear reactorses soared to $465 in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.5% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
