Price for Spices; Cardamoms, Neither Crushed Nor Ground in Guatemala (FOB) - 2023

In December 2023, the average export price for spices; cardamoms, neither crushed nor ground amounted to $12,406 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2023 when the average export price increased by 74% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $12,500 per ton, leveling off in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($16,206 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($5,110 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Israel (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,140 per ton. From August 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Honduras.
