The average import price for spices; cloves (whole fruit, cloves and stems), neither crushed nor ground stood at $13,145 per ton in September 2023, growing by 29% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a perceptible increase from October 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, import price for spices; cloves (whole fruit, cloves and stems), neither crushed nor ground decreased by -35.7% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 20% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $22,789 per ton in September 2023, and then fell in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($33,264 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($19,660 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
