The average export price for spices; cloves (whole fruit, cloves and stems) stood at $35,779 per ton in 2022, dropping by -8.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 68% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $38,991 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($80,486 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($550 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+29.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
