In September 2022, the average import price for spices; ginger, neither crushed nor ground amounted to $1,820 per ton, increasing by 17% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 an increase of 39% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in September 2022.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was China ($2,077 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($1,266 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Fiji ($4,992 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($545 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
