The average import price for spices; mixtures of 2 or more products of the same heading stood at $1,050 per ton in 2022, which is down by -66.5% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,130 per ton in 2021, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,407 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Sudan amounted to +21.1% per year.

For the fourth consecutive year, Uganda recorded growth in shipments abroad of spices; mixtures of 2 or more products of the same heading, which increased by 23% to 485 tons in 2022. In general, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +23.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +88.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 36%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, exports of spices; mixtures of 2 or more products of the same heading shrank remarkably to $652K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 78%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $815K, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
