Price for Spices; Nutmeg, Crushed or Ground in Italy (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for spices; nutmeg, crushed or ground stood at $6,225 per ton in May 2023, dropping by -48.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 26% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $12,243 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to May 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Poland ($23,835 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($619 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+17.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $19,151 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($15,526 per ton), while the price for France ($8,562 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (-3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
