Price for Spices; Nutmeg, Crushed or Ground in Sweden (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average export price for spices; nutmeg, crushed or ground amounted to $21,472 per ton, picking up by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $30,652 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($36,582 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($12,260 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $14,432 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to May 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Estonia.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +1.8% per month.

In 2022, shipments abroad of spices; nutmeg, crushed or ground decreased by -23.4% to 24 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 32%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 32 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
