The average import price for spices; nutmeg, crushed or ground stood at $9,964 per ton in 2022, growing by 13% against the previous year. Over the last five-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $10,682 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($9,964 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($9,961 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, spices; nutmeg, crushed or ground imports surged to $293K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
