In 2022, the average export price for vanilla amounted to $242,183 per ton, waning by -11.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 146%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $467,814 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($417,667 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($183,857 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+19.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for vanilla amounted to $162,795 per ton, declining by -7.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 98%. The import price peaked at $481,421 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($497,500 per ton), while the price for Italy ($10,854 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Madagascar (+33.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -8.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 99.9% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $35K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
