In October 2023, the average import price for stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses amounted to $3,829 per ton, falling by -38.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 an increase of 60% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,725 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($13,334 per ton), while the price for India ($3,617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses amounted to $4,681 per ton, jumping by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 58% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $8,445 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($13,061 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($3,464 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
