In June 2023, the average import price for stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses amounted to $1,120 per ton, growing by 2.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 13% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,388 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,865 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($810 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses stood at $376 per ton in 2022, dropping by -13.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,071 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($1,888 per ton), while the average price for exports to Afghanistan stood at $39 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+8.8%).

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses increased by 40% to 6.7K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses surged to $8.3M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
