The average import price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms stood at $3,572 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 26% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 37% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,345 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,697 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
