The average export price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms stood at $10,107 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 9.4% against the previous month. Over the last six months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in August 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($35,632 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($5,047 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average import price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms amounted to $4,535 per ton, dropping by -10.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a slight downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 7.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $5,047 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($10,279 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($2,409 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Stainless Steel; Flat-Rolled Products of Width Less than 600mm in the United States
