The average import price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms stood at $4,971 per ton in December 2022, declining by -4.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 4% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,322 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($6,401 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($5,941 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($4,490 per ton) and China ($4,815 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms stood at $5,800 per ton in December 2022, with an increase of 2% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.4% against the previous month. The export price peaked in December 2022.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In December 2022, the countries with the highest prices were India ($7,366 per ton) and Thailand ($6,924 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($4,943 per ton) and South Korea ($4,943 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
