In May 2024, the average import price for stainless steel, flat-rolled, width less than 600mm, cold-rolleds amounted to $3,136 per ton, with a decrease of -27.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2024 when the average import price increased by 46% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,432 per ton. From April 2024 to May 2024, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($9,239 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($1,171 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for stainless steel, flat-rolled, width less than 600mm, cold-rolleds stood at $2,837 per ton in 2022, picking up by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for stainless steel, flat-rolled, width less than 600mm, cold-rolleds increased by +80.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 70%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
