The average export price for stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like stood at $179,150 per ton in 2022, surging by 152% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $200,497 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($161,389 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($28,411 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 147%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $270,017 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($263,904 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($4,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas shipments of stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like decreased by -60.7% to 43 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 150%.

In value terms, exports of stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like shrank slightly to $7.6M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 224% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $7.7M, leveling off in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 77%. Over the period under review, imports of and like attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like fell notably to $5.7M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 86%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $8.3M, and then fell markedly in the following year.
