In 2022, the average export price for stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like amounted to $36,366 per ton, rising by 2.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $46,199 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jamaica ($54,962 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($24,342 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bhutan (+25.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like amounted to $33,086 per ton, declining by -33.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 164%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $398,289 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($87,818 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($3,917 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the amount of stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like exported from Sri Lanka expanded markedly to 1.1K tons, picking up by 6.5% against 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.6K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like expanded rapidly to $41M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
