The average import price for stamps; stamp-impressed paper; cheque forms; banknotes, stock, share or bond certificates and the like stood at $70,117 per ton in December 2023, waning by -11.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 469% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $339K per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($80,618 per ton), while the price for Mozambique stood at $14,911 per ton.

From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $920,531 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($335,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($51,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Namibia (+10,149.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 25%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
