In November 2023, the average export price for steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses amounted to $883 per ton, shrinking by -2.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 3.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,168 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Italy.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Italy amounted to -2.1% per month.

The average import price for steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses stood at $4,218 per ton in 2022, waning by -24.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $7,398 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($10,789 per ton), while the price for France ($2,652 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
