In March 2024, the average import price for steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses amounted to $4,759 per ton, which is down by -15.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2023 when the average import price increased by 96% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $9,757 per ton. From January 2024 to March 2024, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($10,892 per ton), while the price for Sweden ($1,725 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses stood at $9,614 per ton in 2022, jumping by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $15,030 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($16,032 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($4,853 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
