In November 2023, the average export price for steel, alloy amounted to $693 per ton, picking up by 4.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 11% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $992 per ton. From July 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($826 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($420 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2023, the average import price for steel, alloy amounted to $968 per ton, increasing by 30% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 52% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,190 per ton. From August 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($1,222 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($800 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Steel, Alloy; Flat-Rolled, Width 600mm or More, Hot-Rolled, in Coils in the UK
In 2022, the amount of steel, alloy exported from the UK rose slightly to 76K tons, surging by 3.5% on the year before. In general, exports, however, showed a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 97K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of steel, alloy expanded notably to $69M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
