In December 2023, the average import price for steel, alloy amounted to $3,120 per ton, rising by 3.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 7.5% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,976 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,846 per ton), while the price for China ($2,836 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. 1.3K tons of steel, alloy were imported into Ukraine; reducing by -77.8% against the year before. Overall, imports showed a dramatic decrease. As a result, imports reached the peak of 5.8K tons, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, imports of steel, alloy contracted dramatically to $3.6M in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 88% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $11M, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
