The average import price for steel, alloy stood at $2,605 per ton in February 2022, reducing by -19.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated temperate growth from February 2021 to February 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2022 figures, import price for steel, alloy decreased by -19.3% against January 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 41% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3,227 per ton in January 2022, and then declined dramatically in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($3,974 per ton), while the price for France ($1,890 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
