In 2022, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products import price amounted to $4,731 per ton, surging by 98% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 119%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,810 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($7,426 per ton), while the price for China ($1,146 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

As a result, imports attained the peak of 22 tons, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, steel, alloy; semi-finished products imports declined notably to $35K in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 372%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $52K, and then contracted notably in the following year.
