In 2022, the average import price for steel, stainless amounted to $3,709 per ton, with an increase of 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 69%. The import price peaked at $5,533 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($12,116 per ton), while the price for Uganda ($1,445 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+32.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uganda ($31,600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($5,240 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
