In August 2023, the average import price for steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia amounted to $9,026 per ton, with a decrease of -10.1% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a notable increase from December 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, import price for steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia decreased by -38.1% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 50% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $15,207 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($12,274 per ton), while the price for India ($7,442 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8,107 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($10,455 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mozambique ($2,227 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Angola (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
