In 2022, the average export price for steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia amounted to $6,350 per ton, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $6,491 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($7,404 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($2,139 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia stood at $29,467 per ton in December 2023, increasing by 35% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 66% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $43,834 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($58,109 per ton), while the price for the UK amounted to $23,770 per ton.

From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia exported from Norway reduced sharply to 979 tons, declining by -46.2% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a sharp downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 28%.

In value terms, exports of steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia reduced dramatically to $6.2M in 2022. Overall, exports faced a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $10M, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
