The average export price for steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia stood at $6,183 per ton in November 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period from November 2022 to November 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2023 when the average export price increased by 18% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $6,999 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United States ($6,654 per ton) and India ($6,158 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($4,629 per ton) and the UK ($5,674 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia stood at $3,456 per ton in November 2023, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 an increase of 18% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $4,118 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the UK amounted to +0.0% per month.

In 2022, the amount of steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia exported from Sweden expanded significantly to 34K tons, growing by 11% on the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 21%.

In value terms, exports of steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia surged to $196M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 53%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
