The average import price for styrene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $457 per ton in December 2023, with a decrease of -25.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 32% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $881 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($863 per ton) and the UK ($680 per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($589 per ton) and Norway ($605 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for styrene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $351 per ton in December 2023, which is down by -19.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 12% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $488 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to December 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($415 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($87.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Styrene Polymers; Waste, Parings and Scrap in Germany
