In 2022, the average import price for styrene polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $525 per ton, surging by 1.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 26%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $843 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($620 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($188 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for styrene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $633 per ton in 2022, growing by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decline. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $909 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,154 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($437 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
