The average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa stood at $2,972 per ton in November 2023, dropping by -13.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 21% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,640 per ton. From May 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,195 per ton), while the price for Colombia ($1,675 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($5,331 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bolivia ($2,469 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bolivia (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 77%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
