In February 2022, the average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $2,099 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 an increase of 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,167 per ton in May 2021; however, from June 2021 to February 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($2,973 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($1,497 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa stood at $2,968 per ton in February 2022, falling by -24.5% against the previous month. Over the period from February 2021 to February 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 30% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,933 per ton in January 2022, and then dropped markedly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($7,854 per ton), while the price for Costa Rica ($1,244 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +53.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa soared to $234M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +85.2% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
