The average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa stood at $6,422 per ton in October 2023, waning by -5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 30% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,765 per ton. From March 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($8,334 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($3,594 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, export price indicated modest growth from November 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa decreased by -40.1% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 36% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $12,526 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($9,378 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($3,528 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
