In October 2023, the average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $6,266 per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($11,031 per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($2,811 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,544 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($7,312 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($2,061 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa rose rapidly to $534M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 8.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
