In November 2023, the average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $3,986 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 an increase of 15% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,302 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($6,042 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,709 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2023, the average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $4,458 per ton, surging by 4.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 7.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in November 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($5,636 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($3,416 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Montenegro (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.4% over the last three years.
