In October 2023, the average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $4,259 per ton, dropping by -3.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 12% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $4,432 per ton in September 2023, and then shrank slightly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($5,201 per ton), while the average price for exports to Jordan ($3,349 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
